How Your Custom Pet Portrait Comes Together

THE STORY BEHIND THE custom PET PORTRAITS

The Artist Behind Every Pet Portrait

I’m Ruben Baghdasaryan, an artist based in Los Angeles.

For over a decade, I’ve created original artwork for collectors, fashion houses, and private clients around the world. Ruben Studio Pet grew from something much more personal—my bond with my own dog, Lukas.

What began as a simple hope to capture the quiet personality of one companion became a way to celebrate the animals that become part of our families. Every custom pet portrait is hand drawn by me using archival materials, with careful attention to expression, character, and the details that make each companion unforgettable.

My goal is simple: to create original pet portraits you’ll treasure for years to come.

FAQs

The standard turnaround is 10–20 days from the time your photo is approved. During busy seasons (holidays, gifting periods), it may extend slightly. If you have a deadline, mention it in your request and I'll do my best to accommodate.

You can choose between 'In a Tube' (rolled in protective archival tissue, shipped in a sturdy tube — included free) or 'Deluxe Cachet' (flat, matted and presented in a presentation folder — $35). Both are shipped insured via tracked courier.

Yes. I ship worldwide. International shipping typically takes 7–14 business days depending on destination and customs. Shipping costs are calculated and confirmed before the portrait is sent.

Graphite and acrylic works are delicate. Keep the portrait out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, frame it behind UV-protective glass, and avoid humid environments. Never wipe the drawing surface — if cleaning is needed, use a soft brush. I provide a care card with every piece.

A clear, well-lit, high-resolution photo works best. Natural daylight is ideal. Avoid blurry or heavily filtered images. The better I can see your pet's eyes, fur texture, and expression, the more lifelike the portrait will be. You can send additional reference photos too.

Absolutely. I offer Single and Double subject options. For three or more pets in one piece, or for portraits on a larger scale, reach out through the Contact page for a custom quote.

Once you submit the form with your photo and preferences, I review everything within 48 hours and confirm the details and timeline. A deposit secures your slot. I then create the portrait by hand, send you progress updates, and ship the finished piece once complete.

Because each portrait is a one-of-a-kind handmade artwork created specifically for you, deposits are non-refundable once work has begun. If there's an issue with your finished piece, please reach out and we'll make it right.
