Hand-drawn portraiture isn't fast — and that's exactly the point. Here's what to expect.
The Reference Stage (1–3 days)
Once you inquire, we'll review your photos and notes together. If needed, I'll suggest the strongest reference image and confirm size, medium, and any personal details to include.
The Drawing Stage (1–3 weeks)
This is where the hours live. A single-subject graphite portrait typically takes between 15 and 40 hours of focused drawing, spread across one to three weeks depending on size and complexity. Larger pieces, multiple subjects, or graphite-and-acrylic works take longer.
There are no shortcuts here. Every layer of tone is built by hand, and rushing it shows.
Finishing and Shipping (3–7 days)
After the final details, the portrait is signed, allowed to set, carefully packaged, and shipped — tracked and insured so it arrives safely.
Plan Ahead for Gifts
If you're commissioning a portrait as a gift, please reach out at least four to six weeks in advance. I take a limited number of commissions at a time to ensure each one gets the attention it deserves.
